Webelos spend much of their time learning about the Boy Scout way of life, including the Scout_Law and Oath (see home page). Webelos spend a lot of their time looking for a Boy Scout troop to join once they have finished with Cub Scouting . This is known as 'bridging over'.
The Webelos symbol is the fleur-de-lis, which is also the background of the Boy Scouts of America logo It is colored yellow, blue, or yellow with a blue W.
They wear a plaid neckerchief, instead of the orange Tiger Cub neckerchief or gold or blue neckerchief of Cub Scouts so as to set them apart from the younger scouts.
There are many packs that have ties with Boy Scout troops. The Webelos Scouts "cross over" from the pack to the troop, and many times den leaders go with them. In turn, the troop provides assistance to the pack with activities such as campouts and ceremonies. However, a Webelos Scout can join any troop he wishes, not just the one with which his pack is associated.
Webelos Scouts have a choice of uniforms: the Cub Scout uniform or the Boy Scout field uniform with blue shoulder loops. There are two styles of caps. One is green with a plaid panel and the oval Webelos logo and is usually used with the Boy Scout field uniform. The other one is blue with the diamond Webelos logo. In addition, Webelos Scouts have plaid neckerchiefs, the neckerchief slide, and belt buckles twith the Webelos logo. Many neckerchief slides fall off easily and are sometimes replaced with alternative slides. The Webelos Cub Scout den may elect to wear a den emblem patch, similar to the Boy Scout patrol patch, in place of the den number.
Webelos work toward earning Activity Badges. The Webelos Badge, the Compass Point Emblem and Metal Compass Points. Finally, Webelos work toward the Arrow of Light. The Arrow of Light award is the highest award available to Cub Scouts. The Arrow of Light requires Scouts to learn the Scout Promise and Scout Law, visit one meeting and one activity of a Boy Scout troop, in preparation for advancing to the Boy Scouts. This is all addition the normal activity requirements expected. The only Cub Scout award that can be worn on a Boy Scout uniform is the Arrow of Light award. It is worn below the left pocket in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Adults wear the square-knot version of the badge above the left pocket.
A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.
Reminder: Everything has to be approved by the council.
